HOSTILE IS GOING TO PARLIAMENT.
26.05.22

Since the making of Hostile, the impact campaign has been central to every screening. After more than 70 screenings, discussions of the impact of the hostile environment has had in local communities, and the importance of the story Hostile tells, becomes ever clearer.

With growing support from local communities and stakeholders, it is clear that Hostile needs to be seen by the country's politicians and policymakers, in order to present the realities of the UK’s migrant communities to those enabling the hostile environment.

This week marks a decade since the announcement by the then Home Secretary Theresa May of her aim  “to create here in Britain a really hostile environment for illegal migration”. This aim has been upheld by her successors, with the most recent announcement of the Rwanda ‘Plan’, which seeks to transfer asylum seekers crossing the Channel to be processed in Rwanda, by the current Home Secretary Priti Patel.

On 6th June, Hostile will be screened in the Houses of Parliament in front of an audience of MPs, advisors, organisations and journalists. The film will be followed by a Q&A discussion with some of our participants in order to engage in a discussion about impactful change with politicians.
